Hi! I’m Hannah Grayson
The Tutor Behind the Grades
I’m passionate about helping you to understand exactly what examiners want so that English becomes something that you can feel fully prepared for ahead of your exams.
MY STORY
About Me
I've spent the past nine years teaching English Literature and First Language English across schools in England, Vietnam and Mexico. For the past six years, I’ve worked at Nord Anglia schools, one of the world’s leading international school providers. Most recently I was a Head of Year 10, so I worked really closely on helping all students in the year group to succeed at IGCSE and balance their academic success with their wellbeing.
Through my experience, I've learned what distinguishes a good answer from a really successful one, and I’m passionate about helping you to understand exactly what examiners want so that English becomes something that you can feel fully prepared for ahead of your exams.
My approach involves teaching writing as a craft and equipping you with a toolkit of strategies that you can apply on the day, so that you feel confident to achieve (or even exceed!) your expectations.

Before tutoring full-time, I spent nine years as a qualified English teacher — working across secondary schools in England, Vietnam and Mexico, leading pastoral teams, and developing the kind of deep exam expertise that only comes from years in the classroom.
I have extensive experience designing and delivering for the following examination boards:
GCSE and IGCSE: AQA, Cambridge
A-level English Literature: Cambridge
International Baccalaureate English A: Literature

Level 3 Safeguarding Training
Overseas police checks for Vietnam and Mexico
International Child Protection Certificate
Cambridge International Examinations training
Category 2 IB training for English Literature
“Alex has always been more into his Science subjects — but since joining Ms Grayson's class, he couldn't stop sharing what he was learning at home. He spent more time on English Literature and First Language than any of his other subjects, simply because he enjoyed it. Two A*s really showed that Ms Grayson helped him in the right way to bring out the best in him." - Parent of IGCSE Student
BEYOND THE DESK
Life outside the classroom
When I’m not teaching, you can find me in Mexico City, either walking around pretty parks or attempting to train my rescue pup. He comes everywhere with me and having him alongside me is the perfect excuse to get outside and immerse myself in nature. His most recent trips include driving along the Californian coast and the Canadian Rockies! We both love a road trip, with stop-offs at beautiful beaches (for me, he’s scared of water!) and pretty cafes (for both of us - he loves a pupachino!). When I can find someone to pup-sit him, I like to explore a museum trip or watch theatre performance, too. I’m particularly fond of musicals and adaptations of my favourite novels.
Recently, I’ve also been trying (really trying!) to learn Spanish. This has been genuinely harrowing and nowhere near as straightforward as I'd hoped. It’s given me a renewed sense of struggling as a learner and I think it’s made me more empathetic towards students when they find it difficult to grasp a concept.
